Phases of care

Whether your goals are to relieve pain, improve function, or wellness and prevention, chiropractic care and physiotherpy are non-invasive tools that help correct dysfunction and restore balance.

Each patient responds to treatments differently, and each patient needs specifically tailored treatment regimens. The severity of the condition, the patient's ability to tolerate certain intensities of treatment, and the patient's active self-care at home all help determine outcomes and sustained wellness.

Phase 1: Pain Relief

Imbalances in movement cause inflammation and irritation, resulting in pain.  Through chiropractice manipulative therapy, physiotherapy (topical analgesics, heat/cold therapy, IASTM, RockTape), corrective exercise, functional re-education, and nutritional counseling, pain relief is possible.  The main goal during this phase of treatment is to pin-point the cause of pain, then fix it.

Phase 2: Corrective Exercise and Rehabilitation

During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely.  Compensations and imbalances are reversed helping the body work in coordination without pain.  Here, tight muscles are stretched, weak muscles are activated, and movement becomes normalized.

Phase 3: Wellness and Prevention

Wellness care is preventative care.  It is essential to keep up with maintaining all the dysfunction that has been undone during phases I and II.  Ideally, treatments can be as frequent as weekly, or monthly.   This is determined by the needs of the patient  based on lifestyle for any given period of time.

A Lifestyle and Wellness Approach

The pillars of wellness are imperative to the foundation on which we build our health. How we nourish the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, environmental, and intellectual aspects of life ultimately leads to how we feel. When we experience pain, whether it is acute (sudden, short lived), or chronic (lasting for over three months, consistently), lifestyle habits are affected. The impact may seem small, or it could be great in magnitude. Either way, it influences how we feel, function, behave, think, and it especially affects the choices we make. These choices are what lead to our lifestyle, the habits we form and function through.

Dysfunction in movement is not uncommon. Every human body experiences it, however, not everyone feels the effects of it until that dysfunction translates to pain. Regular chiropractic visits will help correct dysfunction and will work towards preventing future degeneration of joints.

Maintaining a healthier lifestyle by engaging in preventative practices such as exercise, nutrition, and chiropractic care will only enhance the vitality of the human body. When the body gets what it needs to function at an optimal level, it will have less stress while maintaining homeostasis.
